The Core Service

Hand Washing

Full immersion washing at the workshop — the only method that actually removes what is sitting in the foundation rather than redistributing it.

Method

How it is done

A rug is dusted first, dry, before any water touches it. That step alone lifts a surprising amount of grit, and grit is what does the cutting. Then the rug is washed by hand with the pile, rinsed until the water runs clear, groomed straight and dried flat with air moved through the foundation rather than across the surface.

Why It Matters

What happens if it waits

In-home cleaning wets the top of a rug and leaves the bottom third untouched. Whatever was in the foundation stays there, now damp. That is how a rug that was cleaned last month starts smelling by the end of the season.

Tell-tale sign: Water that runs brown for several minutes on a rug that looked only lightly used.
